An experienced manager himself, Alvin’s expertise is training Emerging Leaders and New Managers in Leadership Development. He has delivered contextualised training to over 4,000 ROHEI learners, over a breadth of industries—among them financial services, education, retail, engineering, and healthcare.
Alvin has 9 years experience as a people manager—in Changi International Airport Training and Development Department and subsequently in Training Vision Institute as a Manager of the Talent Management department.
His experience managing trainers, delivering consulting solutions to clients, and liaising with partners—balancing relationships with multiple stakeholders—allows Alvin to model what it means to be a people manager.
As an engineer, Alvin is deeply familiar with constraints and the realities faced by workers operating in complex operating environments.
Alvin’s background lends him the insight and empathy needed to relate to and train Emerging Leaders and New Managers to lead effectively.
Alvin volunteers at a non-profit organisation, teaching and developing children life skills to better prepare themselves for the future. He finds joy in coaching and training, both in and outside of work.
Alvin’s superpower is his deep, booming voice, which he uses to spread encouragement and laughter. A big guy with a humble heart, Alvin is deeply thankful for his wife of 16 years, and his 3 boisterous boys whom he says mold his character, as much as, he is moulding theirs.
