Reaching out and understanding the realities of the larger community keeps us connected and grounded. We grow as we serve and are refreshed as we refresh others.
Whether it is monthly support for the less-privileged, seed funding of NGO projects or contributing to disaster relief funds, we believe that giving our time and resources should be a part of who we are. We have committed to set aside a portion of our profits every month toward giving.
It has been a privilege for us to work with amazing local partners and staff volunteers along this journey. The following are some of the ongoing and past projects.
Scholarships and Bursaries
Giving children access to education can shape their future and has an incredible multiplier effect on communities and societies.
Since 2012, we have provided financial assistance to students from lower-income families across various local and overseas educational institutions.
Support can take the form of covering the tuition fee for the whole tenure of tertiary education, contributing to practical needs such as meals and transport costs, or sponsorship of graduation awards and prizes.
Scholarships and Bursaries
We support underprivileged and special-needs individuals by improving their well-being, supporting their development and helping them integrate into the broader community.
ROHEI has provided regular financial assistance for widows, the elderly, orphans and special-needs individuals who have visual impairment or cerebral palsy.
Other forms of assistance include financial-aid to cover transportation for dialysis patients seeking treatment and provision of home furnishings for less-privileged families.
Disaster Relief
When natural disasters occur, getting essential aid to those in greatest need is crucial. One such example was in 2013 when Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines. One of the most powerful storms in recent history, it killed over 6,000 people and left 3.9 million people homeless.
We contributed funds to help provide emergency supplies such as food, water and medicine to disaster victims.
Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs)
We have provided financial support to NGOs doing valuable and amazing work, both locally and overseas. Some worthwhile causes include:
-
Providing holistic care for injured migrant workers who cannot afford treatment
-
Palliative care for patients with life-limiting illnesses to preserve dignity and improve quality of life
-
Counselling support and rehabilitation for ex-offenders to help them reintegrate and contribute to society
-
Social engagement programs for the elderly to be self-dependent contributors
-
Medical and education support for widows and orphans affected by HIV/AIDS in Uganda
-
Fundraising contributions to support art, children and education programmes
In 2017, we grew deeply affected by the social issues around the orphan crisis in the Philippines and established ROHEI Foundation based in Manila, a legally registered non-profit organisation.
The foundation is working with government and partner organizations in advocating for domestic adoption and a streamlining of the legal process to do the same. It also develops programmes to provide holistic care for pregnant women in crisis, to rescue abandoned and disowned babies, and to guide families in their adoption journey.
