How Leaders Go from Good to Great: ROHEI on 938NOW Radio (Part 2)

28 June 2018

Our Deputy CE, Praise Mok was interviewed at The Working Lunch on Mediacorp’s 938NOW, last June 21 and 22.

The June 22 episode featured Leadership as the Hot Topic. Addressing an audience of PMEBs (Professionals, Managers, Executives, and Businessmen), Praise shared how ROHEI helps leaders take their leadership to the next level.

In some of the instances, “we have high-performing individuals who are in leadership positions but they’re stuck because they can’t get their team to work with them… the ability to relate is something that is missing and therefore there’s a need to build that leadership,” Praise said.

How does a leader go from good to great?

“I think to be able to go from good to great there needs to be a fundamental recognition that… if you’re going to lead, then it’s first of all through people, Praise said. “And then in order to be able to do that there would need to be an ability to relate… Because without the presence of that then what happens is that they’re not able to move to the next level of building trust with their team.”

If you’re going to lead, then it’s first of all through people. And then in order to be able to do that there would need to be an ability to relate.

What does it mean to be able to relate?

“When a culture of trust is not present, then what you will find is…a very strong silo culture. You could have evidences of backbiting, gossiping, instances where people don’t give credit when work is done, or maybe they take credit for work that was done for themselves….Without trust, all of these evidences will show up,” Praise said.

How does ROHEI help build trust in an organisational culture?

The ability to relate is the ability of leaders to not only get along well with their staff and peers, but the ability to earn strong and deep relationships with people, earning their respect and trust, and then being able to inspire them to give their best in performance.

Leadership success depends on a leader’s ability to relate and build trust.
